Brand Story

Loss of pleats is the primary reason for the return of pleated skirts.

Buyers of mid-to-high-end brands often encounter a problem:The pleated skirt’s pleat retention is substandard. After the bulk shipment was delivered, the pleats of the skirt gradually loosened and deformed.or even disappear completely.Handling returns or discounts resulting from a shipment could directly wipe out the profit from the entire order.

What determines the durability of pleats?

Pleating is essentially the rearrangement of molecular chains within fabric fibers, brought about by the combined action of heat, moisture, and pressure.Insufficient setting temperature prevents the fiber’s shape memory from being fixed.Even with wrinkle-resistant skirt fabric, it is difficult to salvage the pleats.

If the temperature is too high, the fabric will turn yellow. Embrittlement or the generation of auroras.Uneven pressure results in pleats of varying depths.

The reactions of different fibers vary greatly:Polyester fibers have the best thermoplastic properties.Wool requires low temperature and high humidity.Cotton and viscose are the most difficult to shape.

Meng Ruolan’s Heat-Setting Process Standards

At our factory, we set differentiated parameters for the heat-setting process based on fabric composition. For polyester blended fabrics,We use a setting temperature of 160°C to 180°C.With a steam pressure of 4 bar,The setting time is controlled at 40 seconds.

Wool fabrics are set using low-temperature heat and moisture treatment at 120°C to 140°C.Pressure: 3 bar; duration extended to 60 seconds. Each production line is equipped with a tension control device.Ensure uniform tension on the pleats from top to bottom.

Before ordering bulk, we will conduct a small-batch pleating test using the fabric provided by the customer.Observe the morphological stability of the pleats after 24 hours of natural recovery.Mass production will only be scheduled once the rebound rate is confirmed to meet requirements.

Comparison between industry standards and the Meng Ruolan standard

To meet delivery deadlines, many factories perform only a single heat-setting process. We employ a dual heat-setting process in mass production:The fabric undergoes a pre-setting process before cutting to eliminate internal stress.

After the garment is pleated, it undergoes a final shaping process.Lock in the pleat shape. This double-setting process is a core element of high-end finishing skirts.

Although it takes about 15% more time,However, the stability of the pleats is significantly improved.

Our quality control will conduct random inspections of finished products according to AQL standards.Evaluate pleat recovery after simulated home laundering.

Information the buyer needs to confirm before placing an order

To achieve a lasting pleated effect,The buyer is required to provide full details of the fabric composition during the sampling stage.Define the width of the pleats,Depth and direction are also crucial.

If the target market has specific washing test requirements. Please inform us in advance. We recommend that buyers confirm the pre-production sample.Personally test the condition of the pleats after washing.

Mass production will only begin after the pre-production sample passes inspection. It is the most effective way to avoid batch losses.

Cotton and viscose have poor thermoplasticity; pleat retention cannot be guaranteed through heat setting alone. Blended fabrics require lab testing before bulk confirmation.

Meng Ruolan Service and After-Sales

Meng Ruolan provides recommendations on pleated skirt fabrics,End-to-end services covering everything from pleating prototypes and pattern adjustments to mass production. We support OEM and ODM collaborations.Small-batch trial orders are acceptable. After bulk delivery,If the pleat shaping effect is found to be inconsistent with the confirmed sample garment, size chart, or process sheet,The customer is required to provide photos, videos, inspection reports, and the quantities involved. After confirming that the responsibility lies with our production,Depending on the severity of the problem and the order terms.Arrange for the work to be redone, and provide reasonable compensation or negotiate a refund.
