A Scandinavian Startup Needed Pants That Actually Fit

A Scandinavian startup brand came to our prototype pants development factory after two other suppliers failed on their first trouser line. Their samples had tight crotches, baggy knees, and waistbands that rode up in the back, and they only had three weeks before the lookbook shoot.

The Tech Pack Looked Fine on Paper

Their Tech Pack only listed a size M chart with no front or back rise data, so the previous factories did custom pattern grading trousers by simply scaling the M pattern up and down. They never tested how the 4% elastane in the stretch cotton twill would recover after wear, which left the S curve too shallow and the L knee sagging.

Our Sample Room Started With a Deconstructed Pair

At Dreamland, the sample room wouldn’t cut the final fabric until we knew why the fit was off. Pattern maker had the client mail over a pair of trousers they actually loved. Took it apart seam by seam. Found the crotch depth measurement tech pack they sent was 1.2 cm shorter than the real garment. That was it.

From Muslin to Approval in Nine Days

We cut three muslins with different rise curves and the client picked curve B during a video fitting from Copenhagen. The first proper sample shipped on day 5, and after one revision to let out the thigh by 0.8 cm and narrow the leg opening by 1 cm, we had approval on day 9.

A Lookbook With Zero Fit Complaints

Bulk production ran for 18 days, and our pattern maker personally checked 30 pieces for sample room fit validation  at the crotch, knee, and hip. The goods left our factory on day 28, and the client reported zero fit-related issues during their lookbook shoot.

What Buyers Should Bring Next Time

Buyers who want trousers made right should send a reference garment, not just a Tech Pack. Add clear front rise and back rise measurements, and always share your fabric shrinkage data before we start grading.

Services Related to Meng Ruolan

After this order, Dreamland keeps every approved trouser pattern on file for repeat runs. Clients can ask for a mandatory muslin round before we touch any sample fabric. We also run shrinkage tests on stretch fabrics at the sample stage, so the grading accounts for wash recovery from day one.
