Choosing the Faux Leather

The PU midi skirt should be sampled in the exact material proposed for your order. Thickness, backing and surface finish all shape the folds and the layers at the waistband. A similar burgundy shade on its own? Not enough to select a substitute.

Our sourcing team compares available faux leather swatches against your reference. Material from your nominated supplier can also be reviewed. Width, quantity, all of it, before the cutting requirement is confirmed.

Certifications & Standards

We don’t cut corners on materials. Every fabric batch gets checked before we cut. We look at the color. We test if it shrinks. We check the weight. If the fabric is bad, we send it back. We don’t use it.

Our clothes are export quality. If your market needs BSCI, OEKO-TEX, ISO, GOTS… whatever it is… just tell us. We can sort it out. Need third party testing? We use SGS or Intertek. No problem.

Pleat Construction and Material Cost

The burgundy reference has a flat waistband. Pleats stitched down over the upper hip, then opening into a wider hem. A concealed zipper closes the waist. The surface carries a leather-like grain.

Quoting this style means counting the fabric hidden inside each fold. Two skirts can share the same waist and length yet eat very different amounts of material. It depends on the number of pleats, and how deep they are.

If you have a reference sample, we can use it to establish that construction. Working from a drawing or tech pack? Our sample room develops the pleat layout and makes a sample for approval first. Production requirements get calculated after that.

On this A-line pleated skirt, we first agree where the stitched section ends. Move that point and the skirt opens at a different place. So it goes into the specification, right next to the waist measurement and length.

Packing: Individual bags, size stickers and carton markings can follow your instructions.

Sewing and Packing Your Order

MRL Apparel reviews sewing and finishing on the selected material during sampling. That covers the stitch appearance where the pleats are held down. The waistband thickness near the zipper. The finishing method on the coated surface.

In bulk skirt production, the approved sample is the sewing team's reference for pleat placement and release points. Checks during sewing catch differences early, before garments reach final inspection.

We agree on the bulk packing method during sampling too. We can discuss the folding direction and how the pleats sit inside the bag. So carton packing doesn't press an unwanted fold across the skirt.
